WHERE IS THE PROFIT IN THAT?
by
Beca Lewis © 2/2008
Marketing expert Dan Kennedy tells his followers
to always ask this question of themselves, “Where’s the profit in that?” He
means this from both a business point of view, and a personal
point of view.
Isn’t this a great question? Using this question we can
counteract almost any negative thought pattern or limiting point of
view. We can unearth and destroy forever the life answer to
the life question that has been undermining our lives without
our clear understanding or consent.
We all have a life answer, and yes, it is
usually just one. Of
course you may have more if you like, but I ask you, “Where’s
the profit in that?”
Our life answer to our life question, unlike our true selves, is
not unique. Unlike Infinite Mind that is ever expanding, the dualist
idea of good and evil within the worldview is always contracting and
therefore not very creative. That means our life answer is very easy
to unearth, and once seen, destroyed.
Let’s look at one very common life question and answer and
then see how we can use this new question, ‘Where’s the
profit in that “ to shatter it forever.
A common life question is, “Can you do this?” We
rarely hear this question, but it exists in the hidden layers of human
thinking. The common life answer is, “I don’t know
how.“ This question and its answer is so pervasive and
unconsciously accepted that if you stop and listen to any
conversation long enough, you will hear this underlying point of view
spoken in some form by almost everyone.
The answer in itself is not really limiting.
Some things we may not know how to do – yet. But as a limiting life answer it
does not usually carry with it the corresponding statement, “And,
I will learn how,” or even more simply, “I can learn how” or “I
want to learn how.”
Who, or what, does profit from this limited
life question and answer? The dualist worldview gains from our living
in this point of view. It
profits from our fear of defeat, failure, rejection, lack etc. The
worldview profits when we constrict our lives, because that
is its intent.
Our new question asks, “Where’s the profit in that?” There
is a kind of magic in asking this question. Because, if we listen
to the answer it will reveal the hidden profit we receive
by living in and agreeing to the constricted worldview.
Do we get to be right if we are unloved, “See told you I am
unlovable.” Right if we are not living a life that gives
us joy, “See told you that life is about suffering. Right if
we are living in pain, “See, told you that I am able to endure
anything, See, I don’t deserve love.”
This is profit? Absolutely. But only in that limited constricted
view of ourselves. There is no joy in this profit, and by continually
asking ourselves the new question of “Where’s the profit
in that” we will destroy the old life question and answer that
has built walls in and around every area of our lives.
How might this look if we apply in our life?
Here’s an example.
Let’s say we are responding to someone in a habitual way. Maybe
our best friend says something that we would automatically react to
by shutting her down and off. Asking, “Where’s
the profit in that,” means we would discover what we gain by
this reaction.
If we like what we have gained, ok, ask again.
So we gain the right to be right. Then what? “Where’s the profit
in that?” We continue with this question until we reach
the awareness that there is no real profit in this kind of
reaction. Once we become aware of the lack of true profit within the
worldview it becomes easier to switch over to a response more aligned
with the expansive and creative infinite Intelligence of Love.
Perhaps this is the meaning behind this statement, “For what
is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his
own soul.” Matt: 16:26
As we continue to ask ourselves, “Where’s the profit
in that,” we will find our true unique self, free from the
worldview constrictions. We will live within the safety of the
only profit that can never be diminished, the profit of living
as good in action.
Shifting With You!
PS:
Don’t fall into for the worldview, manipulated
perception of Recession. Ask yourself, “Where’s the profit
in that?” Follow the true meaning of the word Repent: “Turn
around and walk the other way, shift the way you think.”
